Material Safety
What materials appear in these products
The pieces on this shelf are made from silicone, ABS or aluminium, textile and the electronic parts that power them. This page describes those materials in general terms and states clearly what is claimed and what is not.
Silicone, as this store describes it
Where silicone touches skin, the listing calls it body-safe, and where the manufacturer uses the phrase, medical-grade silicone. Those phrases are general descriptions of the grade of material supplied to us. They are not a certification: no certificate from any standards body is held or implied here, no regulator’s registration is claimed for any piece, and no material testing is carried out by this store. Where a listing repeats a manufacturer’s wording, the wording belongs to the manufacturer.
Phthalates
Silicone and plastic parts are described as phthalate-free where the manufacturer states that no phthalate plasticisers were added. That statement comes from supplier information rather than from testing run by this store. If a phthalate-free description matters to you, ask before ordering and we will confirm what the manufacturer states for the specific item.
Cleaner compatibility
| Material | Compatible with | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Silicone | Warm water, mild unscented soap, silicone-safe cleaners | Silicone-based lubricants on silicone, abrasive pads, solvent-heavy household sprays |
| ABS and aluminium handles | A damp cloth, then a dry cloth | Soaking, dishwashers, scouring powders |
| Textile pouches and sleeves | Hand wash cool, air dry | Tumble drying, fabric softener, bleach |
Solvent-based cleaners and workshop degreasers are not intended for these surfaces and can dull or break down a coating. Where a cleaner is supplied by a manufacturer for its own product, its instructions take priority over anything on this page.
Water, batteries and drying
A water resistance rating on a listing describes the enclosure, not the charging port. Dry the port before connecting a cable, and do not charge a unit while it is wet. Keep batteries away from heat, and stop using an item whose casing is cracked or whose charging port has become loose.
California Proposition 65
The Proposition 65 warning that applies to any piece in this catalogue, and its exact wording, have to be supplied and confirmed by the operator before this store accepts live orders. Until then, the Prop 65 page on this site is background information rather than a final statement for a specific item.
Storage
Store pieces clean and dry, away from direct sunlight and from other silicone items that may press against them. The pouches and trays supplied with the sets on this shelf exist for that purpose.
